OPGC is a non-profit, non-governmental international academic organization based in New York promoting the spirit of Global Civilization. It was originally founded in Sydney, Australia in 1999 by Dr. Zhang Shaohua with a group of scholars from USA, Russia, China, UK, Australia, India, Iran, Romania, Singapore and other nations. Dr. Zhang is a renowned Chinese philosopher, thinker and author of more than 20 books.
In 2005, OPGC moved the headquarters to New York City where the United Nations and many multinational organizations are located.
OPGC is committed to cultivating a Global Civilization for all people by integrating and elevating the essence of Western, Eastern and Mid-Eastern civilizations. The five world conferences that OPGC is organizing are intended to educate policy makers as well as the general public about a new vision of human governance in the global age to advance humanity, achieve global unity and harmony where understanding, tolerance, compassion, forgiveness, and lovingkindness are common in every aspect of human activity. The global era is calling for a paradigm shift and OPGC is doing what we can to prepare for the necessary change.
Introduction to Dr Zhang Shaohua
Prof. Zhang Shaohua (also known as Jinji Zhang), born in 1951,Permanent Chairman of OPGC, Professor and Vice-Chancellor of Beijing Morden Management Institute, a renowned Chinese philosopher, thinker, and author of more than 20 books.
Prof. Zhang started to write when he was 16. His extensive writing has constructed a philosophical thinking system with his theories of nature, humanity and theology as its framework. His thought is highly appreciated by scholars in China and around the globe. In 1997, his philosophical writings have been compiled into a textbook Zhang Shaohua's thinking system by leading academic institutions in China, including Beijing University, Renmin University of China, and China Academy of Social Science.
In 2007, Henan People Publishing House published Prof. Zhang's collection: Shaohua Zhang's academic thinking system was established solely by Prof. Zhang's personal effort. It is constructed and integrated by six interdisciplinary doctrines that are interconnected and mutually supported. The six academic doctrines include the Science-Philosophy Doctrine, the Human-Race Studies Doctrine, the Life-Science-Cosmology Doctrine, the Divinity-Faith Doctrine, the Mother-Child-Cosmology/Great-One-Spirit Doctrine and the Global Civilization Doctrine.
Since 1997, Prof. Zhang has become an advocate of global unity promoting the spirit of Global Civilization. He founded OPGC in 1999 in Australia with a group of renowned scholars from all over the world. Under his leadership, OPGC plans to convene five world conferences to discuss, debate and search for the best paths to achieve global unity, resolve conflicts and advance humanity from the perspectives of theory, politics, spirituality, environment and culture, respectively, at intervals of 4 years from 2001. He chaired the 1st World Congress of Global Civilization in 2001 in Sydney. In 2005, he again chaired the 2nd World Congress of Global Civilization in New York. In this conference, An open letter to UN General Assembly proposing a discussion on the establishment of a World Coalition Government was passed. The open letter was officially submitted to the United Nations after the conference with signatures and comments from most delegates. Prof. Zhang is managing the preparation for the 3rd World Congress of Global Civilization now.
Prof. Zhang was honored for the Nomination of Nobel Peace Prize of 2006 and 2007 because of his outstanding contribution to promoting global civilization and world peace. He is advocating the establishment of the Association of Noble Peace Prize Laureates now. The purpose of the association is to integrate the scattered individual forces into a strong collective effort to promote world peace.
